The university is ranked in the 1001–1200 band of the QS World University Rankings and has received the highest 5 Stars rating in the QS Stars evaluation system. It also ranks highly among Kazakhstani universities in UniRank. Approximately 5,000–6,500 students are enrolled, and more than 80 bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes are offered. The graduate employment rate is around 96 percent.
Main fields of study include engineering, information technology, computer science, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, mining, metallurgy, geology, economics, business, finance, and natural sciences. Due to its location in the industrial and mining region of East Kazakhstan, the technical and engineering programmes are particularly strong.
Dual degree programmes: The university offers dual degree programmes especially in Information Technology (IT) and Economics. These programmes are implemented with international partners (including universities from China, Europe, and the USA), allowing students to obtain both a Kazakhstani and a foreign university diploma.
EKTU is a suitable choice for international students seeking technical education, planning a career in engineering or IT, and looking for a university with strong industrial links in East Kazakhstan.
